When dealing with an unfamiliar horse you should find out several things:

Has the horse had tack on before?

What tack has it had on?

Has it got or had any injury?

Has it got or had injuries caused by tack?

Does the horse work well in this tack?



It is important to check the tack before fitting and use because you want to make sure that it is all safe, in good working order and is going to fit the horse properly.
