Cross country training is needed to do the cross country jumps.
The jumps can be made from anything
A river or stream, logs, tyres
or a small embankment.

The aim is to complete the cross country jumping course in a set time, and incur as little penalties as possible.

These penalties can be:

run outs

stops

falls

re-crossing tracks

going over the time limit

EVENTING

There are three phases in eventing.

In eventing, a competitor must complete a dressage test, a across country course, and a show jumping course.

The competitor with the lowest score wins.

Penalties are added throughout the three phases faults.

Eventing takes up a great deal of physical and mental strain as the rider and horse must compete well in each discipline.

Eventing requires a good mix of:

speed

accuracy

power

stamina

The courses come in different difficulties, from the lowest affiliated level, the intro, to the highest, the advanced, or four star.

The famous ones in the U.K. are Badminton and Burghley.

Only few top riders and horses make it to this level, as complete and utter determination and devotion are required.
